"A happy lab is one that properly handles non-conformances."

Our History

Trinity Blood Solutions was primarily established to help improve the quality of health care received by patients with inherited blood disorders in Trinidad and Tobago. Individuals with sickle cell disease and beta thalassemia major are always challenged whenever they need a blood transfusion. As a result Trinity started hosting blood drives, and public presentations with various organizations such as Bishop Anstey High School and Trinity East College, U.W.I Roytec, Society for Inherited and Severe Blood Disorders (T’dad & T’bago Ltd), and Trinidad and Tobago Association of Responsible Persons.  Eventually Blood for All was established to better disseminate education about blood transfusion and blood donation.

While doing this work it was discovered that the medical laboratory technologists who prepare the blood for patients with inherited blood disorders also required education and training to improve their competence.  As a result Trinity started offering continuing education in blood banking for medical laboratory technologists.  However, requests were made for continuing education in other areas of the lab so Trinity started to provide that service also.
More about that can be viewed on MMLScientists.

Trinity observed medical laboratory technologists not only want to improve their knowledge in the field but they wanted to advance in their profession.  Hence we now provide a platform for medical technologists to develop holistically and advance in their profession regionally and internationally.

Do Blood bank like a Boss

" As an MLT in the transfusion service you are responsible for providing the patients blood types and blood products that hardly any clinician will query. As a result any error you make on the bench can be fatal for your patient. This is the only area of a diagnostic laboratory that provides the patient with medicine intended to treat them. "

Marion is a medical laboratory scientist certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.  She also has a Masters degree in Clinical Laboratory Science and completed a specialist in blood banking certificate program. She has many years experience in the blood transfusion service in the U.S and in Trinidad and Tobago. In addition to the work done at Trinity she is an adjunct immunohaematology lecturer and provides non technical and technical advice to persons in need of blood, medical laboratory technologists respectively.

To bring awareness to blood donation and to encourage more people to become voluntary blood donors, she educates the public on all things concerning blood donation and highlights the lives of blood donors through her Facebook page Blood for All in T&T.

Value Add

  • MLS promises to consistently provide quality education to help the MLT develop and advance holistically.
  • The community provides an opportunity for MLTs to share their knowledge and experience with their peers, this can result in them being viewed as a thought leader in their specialty.
  • MLS provides an opportunity for MLTs to prove themselves to be an expert in their field by giving them a forum to share their knowledge with fellow professionals and in some cases the public.
  • Education sessions will always be provided by experts in the field. Lab related education will only be provided by fellow MLTs who have proven to be experts in their lab speciality. This makes it easier for the attendee or student to relate with the presenter and allows for practical solutions to lab related challenges.
