Have you considered being a histotechnician? Do you know what a is histotechnican? Are they different from other medical laboratory scientists? In the Caribbean, histology is taught as part of a medical laboratory technology/science program, so histology is given similar attention like microbiology or hematology. After completing a degree program in medical laboratory technology/science, the graduate is equip to perform entry level work in the histology department.
In this presentation, Nicholas A. Seepersad will tell us how he became a ASCP certified histoechnician in a non-conventional way. He will share his experience of working in 3 different labs in Trinidad and explain his passion for histology. Nicholas will also explore the role of a histotechnician to expose others to a non-traditional professions in healthcare.

Marion is a medical laboratory scientist certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. She also has a Masters degree in Clinical Laboratory Management and completed a specialist in blood banking certificate program. She has many years experience in the blood transfusion service in the U.S and in Trinidad and Tobago. In addition to the work done at Trinity she is an adjunct immunohaematology lecturer and provides non technical and technical advice to persons in need of blood, medical laboratory technologists respectively.
