About This Course

Did you know cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide?  This is according to World Health Organization, they also stated that cancer accounted for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020.  This area of medicine requires skilled laboratory medical technologists who specialize in cytology to help fight the battle against cancer.  Cytologists are usually the first to detect suspicious cells then refer them to a pathologist.

Jasmin Hanley is well known throughout the Caribbean as the go to lady for all things cytology.  She has been teaching and training medical laboratory technologists in cytology for most of her 40 years in the field.  In this presentation she will explain the function of cytology as a weapon against cancer and tell us how we can join the fight.
